Proverbs 25:12 NIV

“Like an earring of gold or an ornament of fine gold is the rebuke of a wise judge to a listening ear.”

The image of the jewelry in this verse indicates the grace and beauty of the wearer. The person who handles correction from a wise mentor or friend is showing this level of grace and beauty. On the first Christmas we see God offering the opportunity for the world to receive correction and redemption for our broken planet. Ever since the fall we see man trying to get right with God. Through the impossibility of obeying the commandments and laws to the imperfect sacrifice of animals to restore our relationship with God we see the struggle. On that first Christmas God said “no longer”. No longer did we live in bondage to either sin or the law. He set us free. His correction was more than a single act for a single sin. It was grace and love for a sinful and dead spirit. He breathed life into us and set a course for freedom. All that was required of us was to respond to His correction, own our sin and receive His gift of salvation. And do it with grace and humility. Many struggle to overcome their pride and accept His gift. Christmas is the reminder of the gift. To receive it we must humbly admit we need it. Today accept God’s correction and gift. #BeTheEdge
