“Like cold water to a weary soul is good news from a distant land.”
In preparation for today’s devotion, I Googled “Good News From a Distant Land.” Here are some of the results: “Philanthropist MacKenzie Scott reveals another $2 billion in donations in 2024,” “Two teens used trigonometry to prove the Pythagorean Theorem after many experts couldn’t,” “Archaeologists found an ancient tablet with 39 letters that don’t belong to any known language,” and “The mysterious origins of fast radio bursts may finally be identified.” These may be good news, but they don’t come close to “The Good News” that arrived just over 2,000 years ago. It is the greatest news we will ever hear, second only to “Well done, my good and faithful servant.” The impact of the first Christmas is still changing the world. Today, over 2 billion people claim a relationship with the infant born that first Noel. Whether you have met Him or not, your life is being influenced by Him and His people—for the better. The news from afar has come near and longs to help rewrite your story. Jesus, the Savior of the universe, is a headline that needs to be shouted from every heart today. Be sure you hear it. Today, receive the gift of life from the baby in the manger, the Savior on the cross, and the Lord of the empty tomb. #BeTheEdge
“But the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid. I bring you good news that will cause great joy for all the people.” Luke 2:10 NIV
