“it is better for him to say to you, “Come up here,” than for him to humiliate you before his nobles. What you have seen with your eyes”

I’ve been seeing lots of posts about coaches talking about how they determine who would get playing time on their team. Most have to do with attitude, who works hard, who encourages others, positive attitude, effort, willingness to cheer loudest while on the bench and many other factors. Not once did I see a coach say a person got playing time because they told the coach they were better than who he had on the field. You see self promotion is not an endearing quality to a coach. Solomon let’s us know that it is not to a king or other leaders either. He lets us know that as we do what we are called to do recognition and advancement will come if it is earned. And maybe it won’t. Watch this: so what? Truthfully, so what?. What if you don’t ever receive accolades and praise for a job well done? It is very important for us to recognize those in our care for a job well done. Their faithful, effective service is to be pointed out as a great example to others. However, real maturity is seen in doing your best, giving your all and being satisfied knowing your Heavenly Father sees and smiles. That is what we should strive for. Recognition from others that allows us to tastefully point to our Father is a good thing. Pointing out our accomplishments ourselves is tacky and risky. Yep risky, because you may have overblown your success and the world may see or the world may just not care. Today serve God and others with excellence and leave recognition to your King. #BeTheEdge
