Proverbs 2:6 NIV

“For the Lord gives wisdom; from his mouth come knowledge and understanding.”

I conducted a search for individuals in our society, both past and present, who are considered “wise.” Interestingly, rather than finding names, the first result was a description of what a wise person looks like. I expected to see references to depth of knowledge and insight, perhaps noting years of study and mentorship under other wise leaders. However, the first thing that came up was this definition: “Wise people are individuals who are thoughtful, mindful of others, and have a deep understanding of how to apply their life experiences to the present. They are also known for being virtuous, meaning they act in ways that consider the well-being of everyone involved.” Wow! It seems that wisdom is closely tied to kindness. With this description in mind, I began a new search for people throughout my life who fit this definition. Some were certainly the educated and mentored, but many were better known for their character and heart. My wife, Jennifer, topped the list. As valedictorian of our college class, she was truly brilliant, but her heart was made of gold, and her wisdom was displayed through a kind, gentle, and calming spirit. She also possessed an unshakable faith in her Savior. Today, live wisely in kindness. #BeTheEdge

“Who is wise and understanding among you? Let them show it by their good life, by deeds done in the humility that comes from wisdom.” James‬ ‭3‬:‭13‬ ‭NIV‬‬
