Proverbs 2:7 NIV

“He holds success in store for the upright, He is a shield to those whose walk is blameless.”

Two things I suspect we could all use in this new year are success and security. Success can look very different depending on where we are in life. If your marriage is in trouble, you may be searching for the formula for a successful marriage. If your child is struggling, you may desire success in parenting. If your business is facing challenges—or even if it isn’t—you might long for success or even greater success in your work. In this passage, Solomon tells us that whatever form of success we are seeking, as long as it aligns with God’s will, it is available if we live righteous lives. Living uprightly helps us eliminate much of what the world mistakenly pursues as success. Similarly, we may be seeking safety this year. Safety, too, may mean different things to different people. But, as with success, God shields His followers—those whose walk is clean and filled with integrity—from the seen and unseen dangers of this world. Today, start your new year with your eyes on your Heavenly Father, in Him, you will find both success and security. #BeTheEdge

“But seek first His kingdom and His righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.” – Jesus
