Proverbs 3:5 NIV

“Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding.”

Want a simple strategy to leave this year better than you started it? Here it is. This verse is seldom shared without the next one: “In all your ways submit to Him, and He will make your paths straight.” These two verses should not be separated. There could easily be a month-long sermon series on these two verses — maybe more. Here is the one-paragraph devotion version: Trust God. Trust Him in the good times, and trust Him in the bad times. Trust Him with the big things, and trust Him with what you may consider the small things. Trust Him in the darkness, and trust Him in the noonday sun. Get it? Trust Him. This kind of complete, utter, blind trust is imperative for the maturing believer. It is not partial trust; it is with every nook and cranny of our being. That takes time and experience… unless we come as a child. I’m always awed by the complete trust of a child in a parent. They climb into a car seat, never doubting they will arrive wherever their parent believes they should. Riding with a parent is a complete exercise in unadulterated trust. Today, trust your heavenly Father with the trust of a child. #BeTheEdge

“Let the morning bring me word of your unfailing love, for I have put my trust in you. Show me the way I should go, for to you I entrust my life.” — Psalms 143:8 NIV
