Proverbs 2:7 NIV

“He holds success in store for the upright, he is a shield to those whose walk is blameless,”

The other translation for success is “sound wisdom” or soundness. With it comes the sense of health and safety which leads to abundance. Can I just say, I like all of those words. Solomon is saying as we follow God this is what we will experience. Without going too deeply into the original langue I also love that this phrase includes a sense of the solid and substantial. If we need to be reminded our eternity is not a pie in the sky dream or some hazy, maybe sort of future. It is solid and substantial beyond anything we experience now. On days when heaven feels a little iffy, we all have them at times, this is what walking closely with God gives us: a solid handle on eternity. I’m an Auburn football fan. When I moved to Auburn there was a sophomore running back named Bo. His fullback was a guy named Tommy Agee. Years later I heard it said that Bo credited Tommy for winning him the Heisman . Tommy blocked for him. In this verse we can see God as our Tommy. Well ok, not exactly. But God is our shield, our impenetrable blocker. This next part is a promise for the here and now. As we walk in integrity and faith God blocks for us. He clears away what would come at us to trip us up and take us down. I know Tommy, he’s a terrific follower of God but as im sure he would readily attest his protection of Bo broke down at times. God’s never does. Today walk in right relationship with God and be blessed here on earth and then in heaven. #BeTheEdge
