Proverbs 27:19 NIV

“As water reflects the face, so one’s life reflects the heart.”

I have often been in a place where I’m interacting with someone I’ve never met before. Restaurant servers are a common example of this. As I interact with them I quickly notice something about some of them that draws me to their story. Often I will gently ask them if they go to church in the area. That can open a door. Sometimes because of the perceived familiarity I will wonder if we have crossed paths before. Most of the time I discover they are a follower of Christ. As Solomon lets us know in this verse, when we encounter a brother or sister in Christ it cannot be hidden. We tend to see in others those qualities we recognize in ourselves. As followers of Jesus there is a presence of the Holy Spirit that cannot be hidden. It may look like the fruit of the Spirit. It is often the fruit of kindness. Something in the follower finds a way to shine through our countenance and that is a powerfully special gift. I find it to be really fun to walk through life noticing His presence revealed in His people. We see His Spirit in us mirrored in them. The lost world may see it but not recognize it because it is not a reflection of something in them. That’s a shame. Today as you walk through life keep your eyes and spirit tuned for those encounters. #BeTheEdge

“And we all, who with unveiled faces contemplate the Lord’s glory, are being transformed into his image with ever-increasing glory, which comes from the Lord, who is the Spirit.” 2 Corinthians‬ ‭3‬:‭18‬ ‭NIV‬‬
