Proverbs 27:7 NIV

“One who is full loathes honey from the comb, but to the hungry even what is bitter tastes sweet.”

What do you hunger for? Yesterday I ate two Keto Reese’s peanut butter cups. Please don’t miss the word “Keto”. Without that particular descriptor I would have been a very happy man. Throw the word Keto in front and it was work to eat them both. I know, why do it then? I was craving chocolate and I’m on this low carb, Keto diet. It was the best I could do and as a result it kinda took the edge off my craving. If I could fill myself up on sweets I would most likely make myself sick. Yeah, I’m not great at self control when sitting watching an event or movie holding a full family size bag of M&Ms.  . It’s very different on this diet when my 5 year old granddaughter sneaks me a few M&M’s from her pack. I cherish every one. Solomon wants us to know that in a similar way those who do without learn how to be thankful for the small things while those with plenty often forget to appreciate the simple things of God. While working in low income schools I remember times I would take a student for wings. I would see how they stripped and ate every bit of meat, fat, gristle and even a bit of bone very slowly and deliberately from each wing. Then they licked their fingers with great satisfaction. I never enjoyed wings as thoroughly as they did. I would eat again soon. For them this may be their only meal until school lunch the next day. By the way, after asking permission they almost always wrapped up a couple wings to take to their mom or a sibling. Today reflect on and be thankful for the simple gifts God gives you. #BeTheEdge
