Proverbs 28:3 NIV

“A ruler who oppresses the poor is like a driving rain that leaves no crops.” ‬‬

In the original language the author calls someone who was poor and raised to a position of authority a ruler. In other words he refers to a man who was poor becoming the ruler as being much worse than a normal ruler. It may surprise you, it certainly does me. I would expect someone getting out of poverty to have a tender place for others still in that condition. However at times Christians are guilty of this very thing. As followers of Christ there is a tendency to think we are better in someways than those who have not come to Him yet. It is tempting primarily because there is a grain of truth to it. Those in Christ are certainly better off now and in eternity than those without Him. But, we are called to simply live as one beggar showing another beggar where to find bread. In our gratefulness it is imperative that we always remember where God has rescued us from. It is also vital we remember what He has rescued us too. He rescued us from a past we were responsible for to a future He is responsible for. That should make us the perfect humble, kind, non-judgmental representative of our Father. Today live as one saved from our sin and sent to show how that redemption looks. #BeTheEdge

“For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.” Jesus
