“Then you will understand what is right and just and fair—every good path.” Proverbs 2:9 NIV
Now that you’ve had a whole day to get over last year and settle into the New Year, how’s it going? In reality, last year is probably going to hang with us and threaten to drag us backward for a while. Our history can have a way of doing that, too. Satan, known biblically as the Accuser, will use our history to hold us down whenever we choose to allow him to. Notice I used the words, ‘choose to.’ You see, it is a choice. God clearly offers us a fresh new start, not only at our moment of rebirth, but every moment of everyday, until we stand before Him stepping into eternity in heaven. The power of accusation can tap into our feelings and lie to us about who we are in Christ, today. I have mentioned before, that, for every place Scripture mentions that God is in us, there are ten places where we are reminded that we are in Him. As a follower of Christ, our sins have been forgiven; not just past sins. Jesus paid the price for every sin we ever have or ever will commit. Satan can try and convince us of our guilt, but God clearly tells us that Jesus died for all of our sin, or, if we reject Him, none of our sin. Like so much of the Christian life, it is all or nothing with God. Salvation and forgiveness are not graded on a sliding scale; it is pass/fail. If you began this New Year, if you began today, if you began reading this devotion as a Christ follower, you are completely forgiven and clean in the eyes of God. And really, whose perspective really matters? Today, live as the forgiven and change your world. #BeTheEdge
“But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus, his Son, purifies us from all sin.” 1 John 1:7 NIV
