Proverbs 29:11 NIV

“Fools give full vent to their rage, but the wise bring calm in the end.”

I once sat with Josh. Man, I was angry. I told him I thought I would right a letter telling these guys exactly what I thought of their despicable behavior (it was). He replied, “I think that’s a good idea. Then give it to me, only me. I’ll hang on to it for a while.” The letter was never sent and I don’t believe it exists today. Thank you Lord, and Josh. In this story I play the part of the fool in Solomon’s verse. Josh played the wise man. His part is better. How often have we seen relationships, families or jobs destroyed by flashes of anger and the subsequent responses? How many lives have been broken by the raging fool? I watched a good friend taken advantage of by a business associate 40 years ago. I asked him if he was done doing business with them. He said no, he would be available if they called. He told me an important business and life principle for him was never burn bridges. In 4 decades I have watched that bring amazing blessings to his family and business. Over time I adopted that strategy as well. My primary example was a God who looked down from His cross at the men who had just driven nails in His hands and He forgave them. No one understands forgiveness better than the wise and that is why they are masters at bringing peace and calm. You see, you and I actually drove those nails into Jesus hands. It was our sin that hung Him on that cross. He offers us forgiveness. Today calm down and act wisely. #BeTheEdge
