“When the wicked thrive, so does sin, but the righteous will see their downfall.”
When I read this verse I find myself reflecting on Peter. This is not the first time Solomon compares the wicked and the righteous. As a matter of fact he does it over and over and over and over (get the idea) again. Sometimes I start thinking , “Enough already, I get it.” Then I remember what Peter said about reminding us over and over lest we forget and find ourselves in danger. By this point it is a well established fact that when it seems that bad people are winning you just need to hang around for a while and ultimately you will witness their fall, and it is not pretty. I once sat with a former high level mobster as he reviewed a magazines list of the top 50 wealthiest mafioso’. As he read through the list he would comment name by name, “dead, in prison, dead, missing, in prison.” After covering the entire list there were only about 3 still alive and free including him. The future is not bright for the wicked. Living righteously as you follow God’s call on your journey will allow a passing glance at the wickeds’ downfall but more importantly it will give you a front row seat to watch the unfolding of the Kingdom of God. Today grab hold of His calling and enjoy the view. #BeTheEdge
