“An angry person stirs up conflict, and a hot-tempered person commits many sins.”
Another version states “a passionate man digs up sin”. We all love people of passion for their calling. We have people on our team that are passionate about doing their job and helping us find a win. This verse is talking about an unbridled and out-of-control passion. It’s talking about an anger that rises quickly, reeks of havoc, damages and destroys, and is often filled with regret. When someone reacts out of anger it creates conflict with others. A quick tempered person never brings about peace and unity and growth. Scripture tells us throughout that a quick tempered, hotheaded, raging person always destroys. The result isn’t just wounded people and relationships. It is very often sin. By definition sin is to entirely missing the mark God has set for us. His number one mark is that we love him and that we love others second to that. Reread this verse and you will see neither of those are a byproduct of this kind of person. We can all be prone to fits of anger. Sometimes they may actually be justified when we witness the innocent being wronged. But, even in those circumstances the Holy Spirit will guide us and give us wise direction. Recently, a friend was wounded deeply and the initial impulse was to strike out and get revenge. I watch her process, allow the Holy Spirit to work on her spirit, and lead her to wise answers. Today when you feel the temperature rising in your anger count to 10 and maybe count to 100.#BeTheEdge
