Proverbs 29:23 NIV

“Pride brings a person low, but the lowly in spirit gain honor.”

“He was one of the most important figures in science, his Principia formulated the laws of motion and universal gravitation. Sir Isaac Newton was known to be “a deeply introverted character and fiercely protective of his privacy.” Arguably one of the greatest children’s book authors of all-time, Dr. Seuss, wrote his stories alone, and according to Susan Cain, “was afraid of meeting the kids who read his books for fear they would be disappointed at how quiet he was.” Quiet, humble, introverts. This verse seems simple. It is. Jesus actually says the same thing in Luke a couple times. Therefore, just because it is a simple concept does not make it any less important. I’m sure like me, you understand anything that passed from the lips of our Savior is critically important for our spiritual life. Jesus modeled that the humble person is not pursuing honor yet their life and actions earn it. There is no question that this verse refers to being fleshed out in this world but as followers of Christ we understand, or certainly ought to, that worldly honor and reward pale in comparison to what God has waiting. If we live an entirely unnoticed life of quiet obedience and humble service to the Kingdom of God on earth but are greeted by “well done my good and faithful servant” once we stand before our heavenly Father that is a beautiful as well as perfect outcome for us. Today live humbly and leave the accolades to God. #BeTheEdge

“Humble yourselves, therefore, under God’s mighty hand, that he may lift you up in due time.”1 Peter‬ ‭5‬:‭6‬ ‭NIV‬‬
