“Many seek an audience with a ruler, but it is from the Lord that one gets justice.” Proverbs 29:26 NIV
I, along with many of you, have watched a lot of people tell us about the need for justice and where it will come from. I, along with many of you, have come to realize that most of the places we think justice will come from will leave us empty in the end. We have watched everyone from presidents to athletes to media and cinema personalities to our Facebook friends (and enemies) tell us what justice looks like and how we will get it. We have watched the majority of those ideas and proposals come up empty, as well. Lately I have seen men and women who have offered great wisdom for many years begin to suggest what Solomon tells us here. There’s no doubt we serve a merciful God, but He is also a just God who has no patience for injustice and wrongs. We can rest in the truth that God will prevail, and evil will be dealt with. Take some time and read the many verses that speak of justice in the Bible. It will clarify God’s message and cut through the clutter and voices that bombard us daily. Today, allow God’s voice be the one you hear. #BeTheEdge
“Listen to me, my people; hear me…my justice will become a light to the nations. My righteousness draws near speedily, my salvation is on the way, and my arm will bring justice to the nations…” Isaiah 51:4-5a NIV
