Proverbs 29:6 NIV

“Evildoers are snared by their own sin, but the righteous shout for joy and are glad.”

There is nothing that makes me want to shout for joy more than the realization that I am free from the bondage and consequences of my sin. Before I knew Christ as my savior I lived with intense guilt that weighed on my spirit at all times. Even when I was enjoying life it never reached the level of freedom, peace and joy that I experience on hard days now that I live with a freed up eternal perspective. The snare of the evildoer is the earthly consequences of sin for sure but more so it’s the guilt and sadness in their broken soul that they often don’t recognize. That breaks my heart. It breaks God’s as well. God did not design us to live lives of darkness, sadness and guilt. Culturally we have developed strategies to try and battle that pain. Sadly those strategies, which may bring a degree of momentary relief, only intensify the pain over time. Thankfully it is often that deep pain that causes a person to look up, break through the fog and finally see God for who He is. The consequences of individual and corporate sin are seen everywhere we look these days. That has always been the case. The beauty of God’s redemptive power can also be seen wherever we look. Some try to ignore it but His light is unavoidable. The true joy in the lives of His genuine followers even in hard places is brilliant. Today let your life shout the name of your rescuer. #BeTheEdge
