“Do not slander a servant to their master, or they will curse you, and you will pay for it.”
In this verse Solomon is speaking to the issue of putting words in the mouth of someone of a perceived lower standard or position socially, perhaps even in our companies, to make them look bad. It could actually be an attempt to make ourselves look better or could just be to hurt them or it may just be malicious in nature. Whatever the case Solomon warns very sternly against it. He also reflects a deeper biblical truth that we will reap what we sow. If we sow in deception it will come back on us eventually. Not only will the one we lie about be angry about what we did, which is natural, but they will do everything in their power to make it clear they are not guilty of what they are accused of . They will work hard to show who the real liar is. Yes I said liar. This is not a mistake or a miss quoting of someone. This is blatantly seeking to hurt them and in a very dark way. I hope you read this and wonder what in the world Solomon is talking about. I hope you read this devotion and feel no connection with it. If so continue to love and serve God today. However a moment of reflection and consideration is always healthy. If confession or seeking forgiveness is necessary pursue it.
