Proverbs 30:2 NASB

“Surely I am more stupid than any man, and I do not have the understanding of a man.” Proverbs 30:2 NASB

“Kids Say the Darndest Things” was the name of an old TV show – the title remains true today. My grandkids are always good for a hearty laugh. Sometimes they say some pretty profound things, as well. My daughter texted the other day to tell us a few of the most recent from their kids. One struck me. Hallie, almost 3, out of the blue asked her mom, “Are you Jesus’ friend?” She is. Agur is very sad in our passage for today. He explains why to an extent in the verses following. In these few verses, Agur communicates that he feels that he is “far off from possessing anything that may be called knowledge of God or of His works.” When I am most honest, especially as I scan the turmoil in the world around us, I feel much the same as he surely did. I decided to become a follower of Jesus over 45 years ago. The longer I follow Jesus, the more I realize how very little I know Him. I’m certainly His friend, but it doesn’t always feel like He’s more than an acquaintance. I suspect we all struggle with those feelings at times. This can be especially true when we get a glimpse of how truly big and great He really is. And how small we are. Today, take a beat and look closely at Him and find comfort, not sadness in His greatness, then commit to getting to know Him better. #BeTheEdge
