“Four things on earth are small, yet they are extremely wise:”
Think David and Goliath. Wisdom will almost always conquer physical strength alone. Both are certainly preferable. It represents the old saying that ‘God and anyone is the majority’. Not only is wisdom better than physical strength but the language of this verse is better translated “the wiser of the wise”. This level of wisdom is so intuitive that it is instinctual. I know people like this. They have walked so intimately and consistently in their relationship with God that wise living is truly instinctual to them. They don’t have to consider most situations, they just know how God wants them to walk and respond. I don’t tell everyone this but I’m not as strong as I look. That’s why this passage is so encouraging. These small yet relatively weak creatures are very cunning and have a quick wit. When put in God’s hands He can work powerfully through this type of person. Our goal needs to be to yield whatever strength and wisdom we possess to the purpose and power of God. Like the small things he is about to describe we are of great use when God has us in His hands for His glory. Today allow His wisdom to work through you. #BeTheEdge
