“She makes linen garments and sells them, and supplies the merchants with sashes,”
In this single verse is an amazing story of an elegant yet necessary article of clothing. It has great value and is eagerly traded for by the merchants of the day. Most theologians see this as a parallel or foreshadowing of the Gospel message. The Gospel is obviously the most valuable thing in all of eternity, the giving of Jesus life for all of us. The women in this verse sells her creation. The King of the universe gives His freely. This chapter is a glimpse of an honorable woman representing her husband and her family proudly. As we review our past year and look to the new one it is a good picture of who we should desire to be. We want to live an honorable life that does the family of God, as well as our earthly family, proud. We also represent the great gift of eternal life with God to all we meet, in all we do. Our goal needs to be to do that honorably as well. To a lost and hurting world we are the ones God has chosen to work through to represent what He so freely and graciously offers. Today, and all the tomorrows we have left, let that be our singular focus. #BeTheEdge
