Proverbs 30:27 NIV

“locusts have no king, yet they advance together in ranks;”

This is another example of what our writer refers to as the small but wise in the world. It is a fascinating sight to see locusts swarm over the land and as a group descend and wipe it clean. It’s not necessarily a good activity but the example for the wise is fitting. Self-control or self discipline is a powerful resource in a person’s life. Not everyone is able to lead but those who are can find it a demanding task to subjugate their personal and even selfish desires for the benefit of the group. Followers of God must be able to put the needs of the kingdom before their own. The selfish and self seeking are not good leaders and will never be great leaders. God’s kingdom mobilizes His family. It moves all of us. The key is the spirit led life. A revival often has a leading voice but that voice would be as lonely as the Old Testament Prophet crying alone in the wilderness without God’s Holy Spirit leading and guiding. It is powerful to see God’s followers merge from separate locations to create a movement. There have been many over the centuries. Listening to the voice of God, following His lead and seeing who we are connected with in vision and impact is a work of the Spirit. Today “see where God is at work and join Him” (Blackerby). #BeTheEdge
