This is our monthly visit to the now famous Proverbs 31 woman. I’ve mentioned before that before her death my wife was this person. The truths about her are relevant to both men and women. One commentator tells us this verse shows us her commitment to ‘energetic effort and diligent labor’. It is an unpopular topic in some circles these days but Solomon very clearly saw men and women through a different God perspective. He saw their roles and relationships as unique. He did not consider one more valuable to God than the other and neither should we. Over time the church has, at times, tended to diminish the idea of the Proverbs 31 type woman. In my role with The Edge ministry I see woman running companies and becoming great leaders as they steward a Biblical Worldview for their teams. One of the great challenges in this verse and chapter is that too many men don’t live up to this type of performance. They see the husband in this chapter and think their role is to sit in the marketplace philosophizing with their buddies. That is an incorrect view of a Godly man. All of us are to work in such a way that those around us see we have a boss who deserves our very best, our Heavenly Father.
