“Charm is deceptive, and beauty is fleeting; but a woman who fears the LORD is to be praised.”
Someone shared an AI-generated video with me the other day that showed actresses from 40 years ago sitting on a couch alongside their present-day selves. The intent was to compare how they had changed in appearance. I’m not certain what they expected, but I was surprised by how many I thought were more attractive now than they were back then. The younger versions looked like my granddaughters friends. The overwhelming impression was how much their youthful beauty had faded. The vivaciousness of youth had also mellowed greatly, and now they seemed either tired or resigned to life. It was all a bit sad. There is no doubt that their early successes fooled many of them into believing that age would never become part of their journey and that whatever came next would simply be more and bigger versions of the same. Then I reflected on my wife of 25 years before she passed into eternity, as well as the many women of God I have known, both those still living and those now in heaven. I thought about the contrast with most of these Hollywood women. The women I knew who walked with God were beautiful in a gracious, wise, and calming way. When they are not present, I hear them spoken of with respect and admiration, even by nonbelievers. They exude the Spirit of the Lord. Today, let’s live in reverence to the Lord. #BeTheEdge
