Proverbs 31:30 NIV

“Charm is deceptive, and beauty is fleeting; but a woman who fears the Lord is to be praised.”

There are so many lessons that only come with age. It is no wonder that in the believer we often see the arrogance of youth mellow or even disappear as the decades roll by. One thing that I’ve noticed in men that I’ve grown older with is that what passes for beauty changes. Early in life the writer of this chapter is aware that value is placed in external beauty and the shallow ability to charm others. He calls it deceitful because the picture it projects is a false look at the real person. Those the world deems beautiful people can also be kind and godly. What we learn here is not to let the outside distract us from seeing the person beneath. As a person grows in their relationship with God and the internal fruits of the spirit begin to surface in their behavior and essence a new kind of attractiveness, a much more important kind, gently comes through. There is nothing wrong with brushing your teeth, washing your face and having clean, nice clothes. Take reasonable care of what God has given you. God fearing people, those who truly walk in love with Jesus and kindness to others, are what attracts the world to God. Our real beauty will be completely revealed in eternity. Today look beneath the outward. #BeTheEdge

“The Lord does not look at the things people look at. People look at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart.” 1 Samuel‬ ‭16‬:‭7‬b ‭NIV‬‬
