“Open your mouth for the mute, for the rights of all the unfortunate.” Proverbs 31:8 NASB

This is not hard. It may cost you two of the most precious things in your life, time and money, but it is very doable. Jesus told us many things about the poor and downtrodden. Perhaps the most powerful was that when we speak up for those who can’t speak for themselves, when we do good on their behalf, we are doing it for Him. That should be enough motivation to propel all of us to action. I have believed for a long time that the reason welfare came into existence is because the church dropped the ball. Whatever your feeling on welfare, it would be world changing if those legitimately in need found their needs met by God through His people rather than Uncle Sam. Today, look for someone who needs an advocate and speak and act on their behalf. #BeTheEdge
