“When you lie down, you will not be afraid; when you lie down, your sleep will be sweet.”
There are a lot of frightening things going on in the world these days. The other day, I was in a conversation, as you might have been, about AI killing off the entire human race. Yikes, that sounds pretty ominous. It almost makes Solomon’s teaching in this verse difficult to believe. If there is any possibility that prediction can be true, sweet dreams and no fear seem pretty unrealistic. I’m not a scholar. That’s a bit of an understatement. However, if you read Scripture, the world is not going to end by an attack from AI. But even if that was somehow going to happen, God offers a future in Him, both on earth and beyond, that removes fear from whatever awaits us. Is an AI scheme worse than a devastating battle with cancer? Is it more frightening than a slow death by Alzheimer’s? There are so many things to sit around and fear that one more is just that—one more. Thankfully, God offers a life free from fear. Not free from all hard things, but free from the fear of walking into and through them alone and into an empty eternity. Praise God, He will always be with us, giving us the exact grace and peace we need to handle whatever the world throws at us and ultimately ushering us into an eternity beyond our wildest dreams and hopes. Today, walk in confidence and joy. #BeTheEdge
