Proverbs 2:20 NIV

“Thus you will walk in the ways of the good and keep to the paths of the righteous.”

I love a good prediction, premonition, or projection about our journey. Who doesn’t? But this is more than just that. Solomon is making a strong claim based on some powerful truth. Earlier in this chapter, you read what it takes to be a wise person and what that wisdom includes. Ultimately, it seems to flow naturally out of those who follow God. In reality, it does. I’ve always been fascinated by the fact that Jesus, in the Sermon on the Mount, didn’t tell His disciples they ought to be salt and light or that they could be salt and light. He looked at them as His followers, those who were committed and sold out to Him, at least as much as they knew how to be at that moment, and told them they are the salt of the earth. They are the light of the world. Essentially, He was telling them who they are, not what they were going to act like. I love that. As a follower of Jesus, it can be a tremendous struggle to walk in the ways of God and keep to the right path. But that should be a natural byproduct of consistently listening to and following Him. We should be finding joy every moment as we continue to pursue that path, and in His guarantees. Good, righteous, salt and light—pretty good qualities not to aspire to, but to be. Today, be who you are in Him. #BeTheEdge

“You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden.” Jesus
