Money and wealth are not the most important issues as far as God is concerned. Don’t tell Dave Ramsey I said that. It is true scripture talks more about money and handling it wisely than it does about love. However the truth that our wealth and possessions do not leave this world with us let’s us know that it is but a tool, a resource that God allows in our lives to varying degrees to help prepare us for eternity with Him. No U-hauls at funerals and all that. Often we look at others and try to determine their closeness with God by what we perceive they do with their wealth. The wealthy I know are some of the most faithful, kingdom minded people I know. They are great stewards of His wealth. It can be easy to forget that by world standards almost everyone reading this devotion is wealthy. Solomon, and God, have these truths about finances for us to internalize and practice not judge how others are doing. We will be judged by our obedience not someone else’s.
