Jessie owned the coolest car in our high school. I never understood that much about cars but his was definitely cool. Mine was a 1962 Ford Falcon. Kind of a tank. Thankfully gas was always under a dollar back in the mid seventies. Jessie loved that car. He would not let anyone close to it. Parked it at the end of the parking lot away from all other cars. When not in class he sat on the patio that let him see it and he was constantly glancing out to make sure it was ok. That 1969 GTO in good shape today would be worth close to half a million dollars. The 2022 version of you is priceless. As much as Jessie loved and looked after that car God, as Solomon reveals in this verse, feels infinitely more love for you. He is also committed to protecting you and watching over you. As determined as Jessie was to care for that car he was not capable of doing it forever. God’s committment to you is eternal. The comparison between Jessie and his car and God with you is incomparable. That’s right, on his best day my friend could never care the way God does. Here is the clear distinction, Jessie would never die for that car. God did for us. His love and protection extended to giving His
