“I have not listened to the voice of my teachers, nor inclined my ear to my instructors!” Proverbs 5:13 NASB
Polycarp, Hippolytus of Rome, Ambrose, Augustine, Gregory the Great, Thomas Aquinas, Thomas à Kempis, Charles Wesley, Søren Kierkegaard, J. I. Packer, Dietrich Bonhoeffer, Ravi Zacharias. Perhaps you figured out what this list of names represents. Possibly you at least recognized a few of them. These names are from a list of a few thousand that represents leading Christian theologians since the first century. God gifted the planet with men and women of all races who had unique insight into the truths buried deep in His Word. These are only a few of my favorites. There are other pastors and ministers as well as brilliant lay people who have the ability to take God’s truth, discern nuggets and streams of understanding that we may miss. They hear His voice as it runs through His Word filtered by His Holy Spirit and translate what they learn for our growth and blessing. We are without excuse for not knowing and growing in His instruction for us. Today, find a writer tested by the ages, and begin to dine on hearty servings of spiritual insights. #BeTheEdge
