Proverbs 5:14 NIV

“And I was soon in serious trouble in the assembly of God’s people.”

After pursuing a variety of sinful behaviors this person, who had proclaimed a relationship with God, realized that the rest of those in the synagogue were aware of their activities. At that moment they also realized they were in trouble. The good news in this verse is that the person, as they became aware of the fact their sin was known, also became aware of the cost of that sin in their relationships with family, fellow believers and God Himself. As a result they reacted with repentance and were restored. Sadly that is not always the case. Some believing all their sin stays hidden or that no one really cares is dangerous. Believing it is no big deal and didn’t really matter was much, much more dangerous. God cares about all sin. The gift of the Holy Spirit comes with the promise of conviction, not condemnation, for sin. Being part of a body of believers also comes with a gift, the gift of a safe place to repent and be restored. Today examine your life and repent where necessary. #BeTheEdge
