“A loving doe, a graceful deer— may her breasts satisfy you always, may you ever be intoxicated with her love.”
Very simply in this verse Solomon is talking about commitment in marriage. We are to find all our love; devotion and affection in our spouse. He gets very intimate in his description and that is appropriate. In our current culture where shame seems to be in short supply it is not only good but imperative that we be reminded of this level of marital devotion. It is to be the norm. However as is so often the case sin offers a cheap imitation of God’s great gift in marriage. Today a lot of people are intoxicated by the cheap alternative and settle. They settle for a soiled version of God’s holy gifts. The truth in this passage goes beyond marriage into all areas of life. There is a perfect and beautiful version of every gift from God and Satan has worked, often successfully, to convince mankind that a much lesser counterfeit is real. It isn’t. Today celebrate the gifts God has blessed you with and don’t settle for less. #BeTheEdge
