“For lack of discipline they will die, led astray by their own great folly.”
This verse literally means that because of his willful refusal to repent from his sins he will die lost and separated from God for eternity. That is frightening. It also includes the reality that they fully intended to turn to God before they died, they just run out of time. This is a heartbreaking and very frightening verse. I have been told by a person that they wanted to enjoy their sin, they called it their life, and then they would give their life to Christ. They were led astray by their desires and sin but even more they were led to eternal separation from God. Hell is a very unpopular subject both outside and inside the church. That unpopularity does not make it any less true. It is the third of Satan’s great lies. His first is there is no Satan, second is that there is no hell but the third is that there is plenty of time to deal with it later in life before you die. If he can convince a person of any of those and especially the third he wins and the person loses…for eternity. Thankfully, as God’s followers we know the reality of Satan and Jesus has rescued us from the penalty awaiting those who wait. Today live and, when able, share this truth. #BeTheEdge
