“who winks maliciously with his eye, signals with his feet and motions with his fingers,”

I use to know a guy who would look at someone, say something we knew was disingenuous and then wink at those of us watching. It sent shivers through me. I never knew exactly why but I hated to watch what I knew was demeaning to that person he was talking to. He seemed to believe it made him cool and better than the person he was talking to. I began to stay away from him. Solomon wants us to know that all of these actions represent the behavior of a dangerous and deceitful person. A theologian refers to this behavior as “filling out a malicious tale with the intent of destroying a neighbors character”. To motion with his fingers means the reaching out of the hand. It implies to teach which in this case means being crafty and deceptive in speech. This all leads to Solomons caution about the evil deceivers who think they are cleaver. There’s no shortage of subtle skills utilized by deceivers to demean another. They think they are clever and entertaining. They are not. They are just mean and small in character. Today look to build others up and avoid these insincere manipulators. #BeTheEdge
