“There are six things the Lord hates, seven that are detestable to him:”
If this verse doesn’t make you perk up and focus in I don’t know what will. Here is about to be a list of things that the God, the creator of the universe hates. Then Solomon throws in an extra that He detests. If you truly recognize just a bit of who He is you will want to avoid these things with everything in you. I will save addressing the specifics of the list until we deal with those verses but in the season of Easter I will draw a parallel to the reality of God’s hatred for sin in general. When we consider the fact that our sin nailed His Son to the cross it is not difficult to understand His hatred of our sin. His love not only for His son but for us as well is why He hates sin. It is the ultimate picture of loving the sinner yet hating the sin. We struggle to practice that at times yet it is how we are to reflect Him. Hating a sin can be easy. Loving a sinner, at times, not so much. We can be told that what we call sin is the person’s identity so if we judge the sin we are judging the person. Don’t get pulled into that faulty justification for a persons sinful lifestyle and their excuse for why we have to accept it. Like Gods actions in the crucification we do best to let our actions speak of our love and let God’s Spirit convict of sin, unless asked. Even then be careful. Few don’t already know our position about sin, what they don’t know is how deeply we love them and want them to experience God’s love. Today love the lost in tangible ways. #BeTheEdge
