“There are six things the Lord hates, seven that are detestable to him:”
Without reading the list, I can tell you it is not pretty. The things God identifies as being on His list of hated and detestable things are to be avoided at all costs. Sadly, they are, for the most part, commonly practiced by most of us at one time or another in our story. Personally, I don’t want to be around anyone who practices these things. A follower of Jesus battles these things whenever they begin to tempt their heart. Knowing what that battle looks like makes us aware it’s vital to win. Ultimately, it is the Holy Spirit fighting on our behalf that produces victory. Fighting in our own strength may result in a few random wins, but for the most part, it quickly ends in defeat. When we learn to stand firm and allow God to fight for us, we will begin to see life change. Before we confront these things in our life, we have to learn to hate them the way God does. Determining to root these things out of our life only because God hates them will not work. Too often, we don’t appreciate how evil they are and leave a way back into our lives. God wants us to hate what He hates so that we will not tolerate them in our story or in the lives of those we love. They cost God His Son’s life. They are a big deal. Today, run from those things Jesus died to set you free from. #BeTheEdge
