“My son, keep your father’s command and do not forsake your mother’s teaching.”
The world can be a dangerous and scary place. Maybe more so now than ever. As he did in chapter 1 Solomon is reminding the reader that it is critically important to one’s growth and well being to pay close attention to your parents teaching. This assumes that your parents are schooling you in the precepts of God. That is not always a safe assumption these days. Hopefully if you are a parent your love and concern for your children have you learning, modeling and sharing God’s valuable truths on living a God honoring life. If not it would be a good time to start. As a child I also hope you have God honoring parents who have and continue to make God’s precepts known to you. You see it is a generational practice that goes from parent to child to grandchild through generations. If you are one whose parents were not living in the faith there us no reason you cannot learn and adjust your life to God’s truth. Then the chain can begin with you. Whatever the case the only true source of truth and safety is God. Even lost parents often have a degree of the paternal or material God given instincts to protect their children and they also bring some innate good instruction as well. Today practice Godly commands and teaching in your life. #BeTheEdge
