“When you walk about, they will guide you; When you sleep, they will watch over you; And when you awake, they will talk to you.” Proverbs 6:22 NASB
I have never done this before. Not in all the years of sharing a daily thought from Proverbs have I reused a single one. I was looking back and organizing past pages of these short devotions in preparation for a possible devotional book based on the proverbs. When I saw this one from a few years ago it felt very pertinent to me today. I hope it encourages you. When you are five years old it never occurs to you that life is fragile. Except in the sad instances of abuse and neglect part of the innocence of childhood is a sense of security provided by our parents. You climb in a car with no sense of concern for how competent the driver is. You just know your parents would not allow you in that car if the driver wasn’t going to get you where you are going. At times you don’t even know where the destination is. There is a deep sense of trust in the one that feeds, clothes, bathes and cares for you in every way. There are too many exceptions to that reality today but the point is that children have an inherent trust in the adults in their life. God offers the opportunity to experience the same level of trust through His willingness to hold our story securely in His hands. Holding fast to His words will lead and comfort us even in dark times. It is why He is here. Today trust in His truth.#BeTheEdge
