“Go to the ant, you sluggard; consider its ways and be wise!”
We have so much to learn about God in Scripture, and even more to learn from Scripture through what we see throughout the universe. We serve a God who tells us to look around us at His creation, and then He teaches us through it. Jesus sat on the hillside and said, “Consider the lilies of the field.” He also said, “Consider the birds of the air.” And then He taught amazingly deep lessons about Himself and His kingdom. Here, Solomon says, take a look at the ant, and you will learn what it means to be a diligent and disciplined worker. I enjoy reading Scripture and learning what it is God says through Solomon and all the other writers of Scripture. But I also love sitting on my front porch, looking around the yard and into the woods, and simply seeing and hearing the expanse, beauty, and brilliance of our Creator, God. There has always been a question about those who never hear the gospel and what lies ahead for them when they die and stand before our Savior. God has made it clear that they have had the opportunity to know Him, if not through His teachers and His authors, then through His creation. His creation screams to a lost humanity who He is and how He operates. Today, look to the ant and all of God’s creation, and see the power of His creative hand. #BeTheEdge
