Proverbs 7:17 NIV

“I have perfumed my bed with myrrh, aloes and cinnamon.”

Remember when we saw this lady before? Couple earlier verses. She is working diligently to make her invitation to the son attractive and appealing in ever way she can. It is all deception but it is very cleverly presented deception. I have always heard “sin is ugly”. There is no doubt that the consequences of sin are very ugly however sin itself may be, and usually is, very attractive. If it were not it would not be very tempting. The consequences of yielding to sin is not only ugly it is brutal. If you want to get a glimpse of how sin looks after it has ravaged the human life and soul just walk along the homeless section of many cities. Not only does the piles of refuse remind us of sins price many of the lives on display there do as well. Too many of these broken lives began their journey on fraternity row or in the clubs and establishments of ‘entertainment’ in the cities and towns around the country. There it looked very appealing and even exciting. Very few hold the wino up as a cautionary tale. But they are. That first sip, snort or illicit hook up seemed pretty exciting and harmless. So did that first glimpse on the internet. They all lead to death, spiritual, relational and even physical death. Thankfully we serve a redeeming God who also offers power to resist temptation and flee. Today choose life and run from the waiting ravages of sun. #BeTheEdge

“In the same way, count yourselves dead to sin but alive to God in Christ Jesus.”Romans 6:11 NIV
