Proverbs 7:22 NIV

“All at once he followed her like an ox going to the slaughter, like a deer stepping into a noose.” Proverbs 7:22 NIV

“In psychology, impulsivity or impulsiveness is a tendency to act on a whim, displaying behavior characterized by little or no forethought, reflection, or consideration of the consequences. Impulsive actions are typically poorly conceived, prematurely expressed, unduly risky, or inappropriate to the situation that often result in undesirable consequences,” (Wikipedia) I think this is a pretty good descriptor of the actions taken by the young man in this story. Obviously, this kind of impulsiveness involves a temptation very difficult to resist. Jesus’ presence offers the power to overcome, but the better course is to avoid allowing yourself to be in the position to be tempted in the first place. Scripture assures us that before we enter into temptation, or at the first sign of it, He provides a way out. Our desires are birthed from a place that came from God’s creative power displayed in us, His creation. Satan, over generations, has perverted God’s original design. Now we can be tempted by something that promises pleasure or a need being met but only, I repeat only, delivers death destruction, loneliness and failure. It is a lie. Patiently pursue God’s plan. God offers in reality what we look for at times in fantasy. Today, seek your fulfillment in God’s designs. #BeTheEdge

“No temptation has overtaken you except what is common to mankind. And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can endure it.” 1 Corinthians 10:13 NIV
