Wisdom, prudence, knowledge and discretion, what a great lists. Who doesn’t want those in their life? “Wisdom and Prudence are never apart – they “dwell” together. Prudence without Wisdom is caution with little to no action. Wisdom without Prudence is knowledge with little to no caution. Together, there is sound action based on knowledge and caution.” (Calvert Heights) We serve a God of balance. In a couple places we learn that Truth and love are inseparable for His followers. Literally Solomon is telling us that wisdom inhabits, dwells in prudence and that their presence combined with knowledge brings well thought out plans. We are coming to the end of our annual budgeting process in The Edge ministry. Many years ago a friend and board member challenged me to never attempt developing a budget without defining the ministry goals first. Great advice. After doing that we would pray and be sure we were on target with God’s plan. Finally we would budget to get to those goals. It was initially revolutionary for us. We began to devote resources differently and even assign staff differently. Allowing God’s wisdom and prudence to give us boldness with proper caution really set us free to aggressively pursue our mission. The results were overwhelming. It was exciting to watch the resources balloon to meet the plan that then resulted in greater impact and changed lives. Today live by God’s balanced direction and flourish. #BeTheEdge
