Proverbs 8:34 NIV

“Blessed are those who listen to me, watching daily at my doors, waiting at my doorway.”

I recently had lunch with a very successful owner of a “The Edge” partner company. At one point in our visit I asked about His time spent with God. He informed me, almost embarrassed, that he was not a reader. I totally got it. I never read a book throughout high school. For that matter I’m pretty sure I didn’t read a chapter. I love how my kids are raising my grandchildren to be readers. I found I had to do some reading to get through college and since then I’ve discovered joy in certain types of reading. I’ve also developed a reading plan with the Bible. I certainly read a chapter in Proverbs daily as well. The question for all of us to consider is ‘how do we grow in our faith and interact with our Heavenly Father daily?’. The business leader I spoke about when I began this devotion shared that he listened to great biblical leaders and pastors daily as well as worshiping God through praise music. He did this on a long drive through the country each morning and afternoon. He’s also active in a church with great teaching. I use to believe there was only one way to interact with God daily. It involved a structure and elements that I quantified into a personal relationship. It soon became obvious that it is often easier to follow a formula and mistake it for a relationship. A pastor friend had a plaque on his desk that read, “For God so loved the world that He didn’t send a formula.” Amen. We find over 165 times Jesus spoke to or about His Father. Finding a way to be exposed daily to God’s love letter and focusing on Him in worship and prayer are critical. Today do that. #BeTheEdge

“Very early in the morning, while it was still dark, Jesus got up, left the house and went off to a solitary place, where he prayed.” Mark‬ ‭1‬:‭35‬ ‭NIV‬‬
