“To the discerning all of them are right; they are upright to those who have found knowledge.”
There are two things in this proverb that are encouraging. One: Every word of God is correct, accurate, and true. We see that in so many places throughout Scripture, but Solomon is reminding us here that God’s instruction is flawless. Two: We learn and dig and wrestle through the meaning sometimes. It’s part of being discerning. It’s not always spoon-fed. Some Scripture couldn’t be clearer. “For God so loved” is pretty darn clear. Some things are laid out like dessert on the table, and you get it, you eat it, you enjoy it, and you find great peace and comfort. But other things in Scripture we dig for. We search and go after them like buried treasure in a journey of joy. It’s not drudgery. It’s not work. It’s just what the discerning do. And it’s a gift to be able to do that as well. That feast is more like the meat that we read about in the New Testament. Digging into God’s truth allows us to understand the difference, not just between His truth and what the world wants us to believe, but between His truth and the confusing shades of His truth that we often run into. The word “discern” in this verse literally means “understand, discern, perceive, or consider.” Literally, it means “to separate mentally.” (AIResource) Today, enjoy digging and learning and discovering the beautiful treasures your heavenly Father has for you. #BeTheEdge
