Proverbs 9:12 NIV

By December 9, 2022No Comments

“If you are wise, your wisdom will reward you; if you are a mocker, you alone will suffer.”

So much of Proverbs, all of scripture and therefore ultimately life is made up of a choice between two options. Be wise or be a mocker. That’s todays choice from Solomon. Interestingly this verse in the original not only tells us if we are wise we benefit but that those around us, our community, also benefits. Our choices not only affect us, they effect everyone within our reach and influence. We see the impact of our wise choices reflected in the first part of the verse but the next part lets us know that we suffer alone as we mock. Mocking ‬by definition is cruel. It is making fun of someone or something with no regard for others feelings. The choice in this passage like so many others comes down to blessing others by living wisely or suffering alone. It is a healthy exercise to occasionally review each decision and activity in our lives and determine if we are being wise or a selfish mocker. Today choose to be a blessing. #BeTheEdge

“Be very careful, then, how you live—not as unwise but as wise,” Ephesians‬ ‭5‬:‭15‬ ‭NIV‬‬
