“She has sent out her servants, and she calls from the highest point of the city,”
It can be very fun to be invited to an exclusive party. This is especially true when the person throwing the party is someone you look up to. I have to admit, I can count those invitations on less than one hand. Speaking of invitations, how about if the invitation is given by a host of angels singing about the guest of honor’s arrival? I’m in pretty good company considering that the ones who first received that invite were lowly shepherds on the night shift. In this chapter of Proverbs, Solomon starts out with Wisdom inviting the simple to celebrate her new place. On the first Christmas, our invitation to the greatest celebration of all eternity began its journey to us, passed down through the centuries. Just like the shepherds, the wise men, and so many others, we are invited to know, celebrate, and worship not only a baby in a manger, but the Ruler of the universe, the King of Kings, God Himself. It is not an invitation for the celebrated or those of high status alone. It’s an invitation to all. Yours and mine might not come from a choir of angels or a prophet in the streets, but it came—or will come—nonetheless. Every person who has ever lived and ever will live receives the invitation. Unbelievably, we have been given the honor of inviting anyone we want to the eternal celebration of the life, death, and resurrection of our King. Today, invite someone. #BeTheEdge
