Proverbs 9:4 NIV

‬ “”Let all who are simple come to my house!” To those who have no sense she says,”

Here is the really good news a lot of us have been needing to hear. I did not make the best grades as a kid. College and grad school went a little better. Oxford and Harvard did not pursue me. The old joke was that when God was giving out brains I thought He said pains so I told Him no thanks. Bad joke but the point is I’m not going to be found doing rocket surgery. If you are anything like me, and I know you’re not because most of you are brilliant, this verse lets us know that God reaches out to those who are simple and with no sense and welcomes them into His family. There sure are a lot of theological arguments in the church. However, I’m here to tell you that you do not have to grasp every nuance of dispensationalism or the true depth of the hypostatic union to join God’s family. Are you Calvinist or Armenian? Others may care but God’s invitation to join Him certainly doesn’t. Thankfully, unlike Oxford and Harvard, there is no entry exam, SAT score or even frightening interview required to enter into God’s kingdom. He simply asks, “What did you do with my Son?” If someone tries to complicate the entry process leave them. As Jay Kessler use to say that, yes the way is narrow, but let’s not make it any narrower than He did. Today celebrate the simplicity of God’s invitation and respond. #BeTheEdge
