Proverbs 9:9 NIV

“Instruct the wise and they will be wiser still; teach the righteous and they will add to their learning.”

The emphasis of this verse is on the initiative or the wise person. Solomon is telling us that when given the opportunity the wise person grabs the wisdom offered. One of the reasons they are wise in the first place is that they seize on the opportunities offered to learn and grow in the things of God. I have a good friend. He is very successful. He could rest and enjoy life from this point on but he always hungers to know and understand more. It is why he is where he is now. My buddy Bill was 75 years old, still worked with teenagers every day and whenever we were at a training activity he would teach from his years and deep wisdom then he would take a seat on the front row, pull out his notebook and begin learning from the next teacher. Most likely it was someone who he taught decades ago. The wise person is always seeking out more. They know that as much as they know there is still more to learn about an endless God. So they put themselves in positions to learn. My friend Jill is in her mid 70’s. She no longer is in a setting to train women like she did for decades. Every time I speak to her she mentions the book she is reading and how much she is learning. She is wise. Today pursue knowledge of God and His ways and grow. #BeTheEdge

“But as for you, continue in what you have learned and have become convinced of, because you know those from whom you learned it,” 2 Timothy‬ ‭3:14‬ ‭NIV‬‬
