This is pretty much a rhetorical question. Anyone in their right mind, or one who has any maturity realizes two things: first, their heart always has areas of darkness, and second, they are certainly not personally capable of cleaning up that darkness. Sure, self-examination is necessary and at times a powerful exercise. Ultimately, all it can do is convince us that we need help and that the help has to be bigger and stronger than we are. God made us to become aware of our need for Him. Fighting that truth heightens the darkness and prolongs the control it has over our soul. Solomon’s father, David, was called “a man after God’s own heart,” yet Solomon knew better than anyone the darkness in his father’s heart. David was aware of his need and desired God’s power to rectify the issues of sin and brokenness in his life. He cried out in Psalms for God to make him new and whole. Today recognize that repentance, forgiveness, and cleansing are only a prayer away and pursue them. #BeTheEdge
